On September 22, 2014, China Foundation for International Studies (CFIS) held in Beijing the "Symposium on New Opportunity, New Milestone and New Chapter-- Promoting the Implementation of the Outcome of the Visit of President Xi Jinping in Latin America". Assistant Foreign Minister Zhang Kunsheng attended and addressed the opening ceremony at invitation.

Zhang Kunsheng introduced the important significance of President Xi Jinping's visit to Latin America this July, pointing out that this visit comprehensively charted the course for future development of China-Latin America relations, promoted the China-Latin America practical cooperation and put forward for the first time that China and Latin America jointly realize "Chinese Dream" and "Latin American Dream".

Zhang Kunsheng stressed that at the moment, China and Latin America are actively implementing various cooperation agreements and cooperation plans reached during the visit. Ministry of Foreign Affairs of China will make joint efforts with various parties to promptly implement the outcome of the visit, prepare well for the first ministerial meeting of China-Community of Latin American and Caribbean States (CELAC) Forum and promote China-Latin America comprehensive cooperative partnership to develop on a higher level.

The Symposium was chaired by Vice Chairman of the CFIS Wang Zhen. Approximately 160 people attended the event, including Chairman of the CFIS Liu Guchang, Head of the Department of Latin American and Caribbean Affairs of Ministry of Foreign Affairs Shen Zhiliang, former China's envoys in the Latin American region, researchers of the CFIS, experts and scholars, enterprise representatives and envoys of Latin American and Caribbean countries in China.
