Wang Yi Meets with First Undersecretary for Foreign Affairs Carlos Alberto de Icaza González of Mexico

On October 24, 2014, Foreign Minister Wang Yi met with First Undersecretary for Foreign Affairs Carlos Alberto de Icaza González of Mexico who was on a working visit to China.

Wang Yi said that both China and Mexico are important emerging markets, and China attaches great importance to developing relations with Mexico. Last year, the two heads of state exchanged visits and jointly announced the establishment of a comprehensive strategic partnership between China and Mexico, opening a new phase of the bilateral relations. China warmly welcomes President Enrique Peña Nieto to attend the Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Informal Leaders' Meeting to be held in China this November and to visit China. China hopes to take this visit as an opportunity to work with Mexico to deepen political mutual trust and strengthen practical cooperation in various fields to push forward the development of the comprehensive strategic partnership between the two countries.

Carlos Alberto de Icaza González said that developing relations with China is a priority goal in Mexico's foreign policy, and President Enrique Peña Nieto looks forward to attending the APEC Informal Leaders' Meeting in China this November and to visiting China. Mexico is willing to strengthen communication and cooperation with China and ensure the success of the visit. Mexico believes that the APEC Informal Leaders' Meeting to be held in Beijing this year will achieve a great success and inject new vitality into the development of the organization, and is willing to strengthen cooperation with China in mechanisms such as the Forum of China and Community of Latin American and Caribbean States.
