On October 29, 2014, President Xi Jinping held a telephone conversation with President Cristina Fernández de Kirchner of Argentina upon request.
Cristina said that President Xi Jinping paid a successful state visit to Argentina this July and left the Argentine people a deep and agreeable impression. We jointly declared the establishment of the Argentina-China comprehensive strategic partnership, and reached consensus on cooperation projects such as Néstor Kirchner-Jorge Cepernic Hydropower Project, Belgrano Cargas freight rail renovation, and Chinese enterprises’ participation in the construction of Argentina’s nuclear power plants. Argentina is willing to maintain good communication and coordination with China, and create favorable conditions for smooth implementation of relevant projects, so as to push forward the development of the bilateral relations.
Xi Jinping stressed that China attaches great importance to developing the China-Argentina comprehensive strategic partnership, and has definite will and determination to promote the bilateral cooperation. Since my visit to Argentina, relevant departments of the two countries have maintained contact, and the bilateral cooperation has gained new and positive development. In the next stage, both sides should well implement the joint action plan between the two governments, initiate the China-Argentina Intergovernmental Standing Committee as early as possible, and well implement key cooperation projects, so as to promote the bilateral trade for balanced and steady development. I’m willing to maintain close communication and exchanges with you, and welcome you to visit China at the convenience of both sides. I am expecting to meet with you again at the Group of Twenty (G20) Summit to be held in Brisbane this November.
