Yu Zhengsheng Meets with President Michelle Bachelet of Chile

On November 11, 2014, Chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) Yu Zhengsheng met with President Michelle Bachelet of Chile at the Great Hall of the People.

Yu Zhengsheng said that Chile has been standing at the forefront in developing relations with China among the Latin American states, of which the complete establishment of the China-Chile free trade area (FTA) is a good example. The next year marks the 45th anniversary of the establishment of the diplomatic relationship between China and Chile, and China is willing to take this as an opportunity to deepen bilateral political mutual trust, and expand mutually beneficial and friendly cooperation in agriculture, mining, finance, infrastructure construction, people-to-people and cultural engagement, science and technology and other fields. China also stands ready to work with Chile to join efforts in uplifting the overall cooperation between China and Latin American countries and regional cooperation in the Asia-Pacific region.

Yu Zhengsheng briefed on economic development and deepening of reforms in China and expressed that the CPPCC is willing to work with Chile to intensity communication in governance and participation in the administration of state affairs, democratic supervision and other aspects, so as to constantly enrich the connotation of China-Chile strategic partnership.

Michelle Bachelet extended congratulations to the fruitful results yielded from the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Informal Leaders' Meeting and expressed that Chile is ready to tighten the ties of cooperation with China in various fields and enhance communication and coordination in the international affairs.
