On January 6, 2015, Foreign Minister Wang Yi met with Foreign Minister Delcy Rodriguez of Venezuela, who came to China to attend the 1st ministerial meeting of the Forum of China and the Community of Latin American and Caribbean states (CELAC) Forum.

Wang Yi expressed that since 2013, President Xi Jinping and President Nicolas Maduro paid mutual visits, upgrading China-Venezuela relations to a comprehensive strategic partnership and opening a new chapter of the development of bilateral relations. President Nicolas Maduro will attend the opening ceremony of the 1st ministerial meeting of China-CELAC Forum in China, which indicates the aspiration of the two countries in deepening bilateral comprehensive strategic partnership and pushing forward practical cooperation as well as Venezuela's support for China-CELAC overall cooperation. This for sure will greatly promote the further development of China-Venezuela comprehensive strategic partnership and China-CELAC relations.

Rodriguez expressed that developing relations with China is a priority of Venezuela's foreign policy. Venezuela stands ready to make joint efforts with China to continuously promote bilateral cooperation in various fields for new progress within the framework of bilateral comprehensive strategic partnership. Venezuela supports China-CELAC overall cooperation and will enhance communication and coordination with China so as to ensure the success of the 1st ministerial meeting of China-CELAC Forum.
