On June 26 local time, Vice Premier Wang Yang co-chaired the fourth meeting of the China-Brazil High-level Coordination and Cooperation Committee in Brasilia with Vice President Michel Temer of Brazil.
Wang Yang expressed that in recent years, with joint efforts of China and Brazil, the China-Brazil comprehensive strategic partnership has made great strides, with frequent high-level exchanges and continuously deepened strategic mutual trust. China remains the biggest trade partner of Brazil for six consecutive years, while Brazil has ranked among the top ten trade partners of China for five straight years. Investment and cooperation of the two countries have embarked on the fast track, with increasingly enhanced bilateral cooperation in science and technology, education, culture, tourism, sports and other fields. The main task of this meeting is to implement the important consensus reached by President Xi Jinping and President Dilma Rousseff of Brazil as well as the achievements of Premier Li Keqiang’s visit to Brazil, so as to practically boost China-Brazil practical cooperation.
Michel Temer expressed that in recent years, both countries witness the leapfrog development in their relations, fruitful results in bilateral cooperation in various fields, and increasingly closer cultural and people-to-people exchanges. The Brazilian side stands ready to expand bilateral trade and investment with China, and propel bilateral cooperation in production capacity, infrastructure and other key fields, in a move to comprehensively deepen the mutually beneficial cooperation between the two countries.
Both parties agreed to set up a bilateral mutual fund of 20 billion USD to focus on supporting cooperation projects of production capacity, and agreed to mutually check the list of the preferred fields and cooperation projects in production capacity cooperation, so as to determine the list of early harvest projects. Technical expert groups from the two countries discussed the railroad project connecting the Pacific and Atlantic, and agreed upon the start of the site survey.
Both parties agreed to stabilize the trade scale, optimize the trade structure, and establish a working group for promoting service trade under the economic and trade subcommittee of the China-Brazil High-Level Coordination and Cooperation Committee to expand service trade. The Chinese side stands ready to import more high-quality products from Brazil, including manufactured goods, and welcomes more eligible Brazilian meat enterprises to register in China.
Both parties agreed to continue to enhance cooperation in science and technology, education, culture, health care and other cultural and people-to-people fields, to officially establish an exchange and cooperation mechanism in scientific and technological parks, to jointly launch the research and development for China-Brazil Earth Resources Satellite 04A, and to set up a health care subcommittee under the mechanism of the China-Brazil High-level Coordination and Cooperation Committee to promote cooperation in heath care.
Both parties agreed to strengthen communication in macro-economy, public finance, financing and other fields as well as coordination in international affairs, in a bid to promote the world’s economic recovery together.
Both parties agreed to give a further play to the planning and coordination role of the mechanism of the China-Brazil High-level Coordination and Cooperation Committee.
After the meeting, Wang Yang and Michel Temer jointly witnessed the signing of Minutes of the Fourth Meeting of the China-Brazil High-level Coordination and Cooperation Committee, and met the press together.
More than 100 people including heads of relevant government departments and business representatives of the two countries attended the meeting.
