On September 11, 2015, Vice Foreign Minister Wang Chao met with the outgoing Brazilian Ambassador to China Valdemar Carneiro Leao.

Wang Chao positively evaluated the development of China-Brazil comprehensive strategic partnership in recent years, praised the great efforts Valdemar Carneiro Leao has made for bilateral exchanges and cooperation in various sectors, and expressed the hope that he would continue to care for and support the development of bilateral relations after leaving the post. Valdemar Carneiro Leao appreciated the strong support provided by the Chinese side during his tenure, reiterated that Brazil attaches great importance to its relations with China, and said that he himself is willing to continue to make contributions to the development of bilateral relations after leaving his post.
