Wang Yi Holds Talks with Minister of Foreign Affairs and Human Mobility Ricardo Armando Patino Aroca of Ecuador

On October 8, 2015, Foreign Minster Wang Yi held talks in Beijing with Minister of Foreign Affairs and Human Mobility Ricardo Armando Patino Aroca of Ecuador who was on an official visit to China.

Wang Yi expressed that this year marks the 35th anniversary of the establishment of China-Ecuador diplomatic relationship which is now at the best stage in history. In this January, President Rafael Correa paid a successful state visit to China, during which President Xi Jinping and him jointly announced the establishment of bilateral strategic partnership, opening a new chapter in the development of bilateral relationship. The Chinese side highly values the development of China-Ecuador relationship and will work with the Ecuadorean side to maintain high-level exchanges, and speed up the exploration of new cooperative areas while continuously enhancing cooperation in traditional areas like energy and infrastructure construction so as to deepen and expand the connotation and denotation of bilateral strategic partnership.

Wang Yi noted that the Latin-American countries including Ecuador strongly hope to push forward their industrialization process and improve independent development capacity. China will actively respond to the anticipations of the Latin-American friends by launching international capacity cooperation and offering necessary financial and technical support so as to elevate the China and Latin-America mutually beneficial cooperation to a new level.

Wang Yi said that the Chinese side appreciates the important role played by Ecuador as the rotating presidency of the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States (CELAC) and is willing to, together with the Ecuadorean side, continuously advance the China-Latin America comprehensive cooperative partnership and bring benefits to both peoples.

Ricardo Armando Patino Aroca expressed that in recent years, the Ecuador-China relationship is developing rapidly with fruitful cooperation results in such areas as economy, trade, science, technology, culture and education. The Ecuadorean government attaches great importance to developing relations with China. The purpose of his visit is to carry out the important consensus reached by the two heads of state with a focus on promoting practical cooperation in such fields as economy, trade, finance, energy mineral, infrastructure construction, science and technology. The capacity cooperation between the Latin-American countries and China is at the right moment, and the Ecuadorean side is willing to work with China to make it a new highlight in bilateral cooperation. At the same time, the Ecuadorean side will enhance communication and coordination with the Chinese side in the building of CELAC-China Forum and overall Latin America-China cooperation in order to make contributions to Latin America-China relationship.
