From April 25 to 28, 2016, Special Representative of the Chinese Government on Latin American Affairs Yin Hengmin visited Ecuador and Peru.

During the visit, Special Representative Yin Hengmin met with Deputy Foreign Minister Fernando Yepez of Ecuador, and expressed condolences over the recent violent earthquake in Ecuador. He also exchanged views with Fernando Yepez on promoting China-Ecuador relations, communication and cooperation between China and the Union of South American Nations (UNASUR) as well as other topics.

Special Representative Yin Hengmin held talks with Secretary General of the UNASUR Ernesto Samper and Director General for Economic Affairs of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Javier Manuel Paulinich Velarde of Peru, exchanging views on communication and cooperation between China and the UNASUR, continuously deepening China-Peru friendly and cooperative relations, developing China-Pacific Alliance relations as well as other topics respectively.
