On May 20, 2016, State Councilor Yang Jiechi met in Zhongnanhai with Minister of Foreign Affairs and Worship Susana Malcorra of Argentina.
Yang Jiechi expressed that since the establishment of the new Argentine government, the overall China-Argentina relations have maintained a stable development trend. During the Nuclear Security Summit in Washington D.C. early April this year, President Xi Jinping and President Mauricio Macri successfully held their first meeting, reaching important consensus on enhancing mutually beneficial and friendly cooperation in various fields between the two countries, and charting the course for the development of bilateral relations. It is hoped that the two sides can actively implement the consensus reached by leaders of both countries, strengthen high-level exchanges, expand communication and cooperation in various fields, and maintain close communication and coordination in major international and regional issues, so as to continue to write a new chapter for China-Argentina comprehensive strategic partnership.
Susana Malcorra expressed that developing relations with China is a priority of Argentina's foreign policy. The new Argentine government will continue to firmly devote itself to developing Argentina-China comprehensive strategic partnership, firmly adhere to the One-China policy, well implement major cooperation projects between the two countries, and expand mutually beneficial cooperation in such fields as agriculture, infrastructure, energy and tourism. Argentina also supports China in hosting the G20 Hangzhou Summit, and will strengthen coordination in multilateral affairs between both countries, so as to promote bilateral relations to constantly achieve greater development.
