On June 8, 2016, State Councilor Yang Jiechi met at Zhongnanhai with Foreign Minister Rodolfo Nin Novoa of Uruguay.

Yang Jiechi expressed that attaching high importance to developing relations with Uruguay, China stands ready to, together with Uruguay, intensify high-level exchanges, consolidate political mutual trust, expand communication and cooperation in various fields such as trade, investment and people-to-people and cultural exchanges, and strengthen coordination and cooperation in international and regional affairs, so as to promote the comprehensive and in-depth development of bilateral relations. China is willing to work with all countries in Latin America, including Uruguay, to push for constant development of China-Latin America relations.

Rodolfo Nin Novoa expressed that developing relations with China is a strategic choice of Uruguay. Uruguay will make joint efforts with China to enhance coordination and cooperation, so as to realize common development and promote the overall China-Latin America cooperation and further development of China-Latin America relations.
