On September 21, 2016 local time, Foreign Minister Wang Yi met in New York with Foreign Minister Delcy Rodriguez of Venezuela.

Wang Yi said that as a good friend of Venezuela, China hopes it to unite as one to overcome difficulties and realize its national development goals as designated. Attaching great importance to China-Venezuela relations, the Chinese side is willing to constantly deepen and expand bilateral exchanges and cooperation in various fields, as well as reinforce coordination and cooperation in international affairs.

Delcy Rodriguez expressed that Venezuela is grateful for China's assistance to it during hard times. The Chinese side has set an example in development for Venezuela. The Venezuelan side is willing to further expand cooperation sectors with China and continue to maintain close communication and coordination in international affairs with China.
