On October 6, 2016 local time, Foreign Minister Wang Yi, who was on an official visit to Bolivia, held talks with Foreign Minister David Choquehuanca of Bolivia in La Paz.

Wang Yi stated that China and Bolivia, always treating each other with mutual respect and equality, have served as a model of solidarity, mutual help, win-win results and mutual benefit between big and small countries. China attaches importance to Bolivia's unique position and role in Latin America and regards Bolivia as a trustworthy good friend and good partner. Both sides should implement the important consensus reached by both heads of state and together facilitate the China-Bolivia all-round cooperation. First, both sides should give play to the advantage of political mutual trust and maintain mutual support on issues concerning each other's core interests and major concerns, so as to consolidate the political foundation of bilateral cooperation in all fields. Second, both sides should give play to the advantage of mutual economic complementarity, enhance cooperation in traditional areas such as infrastructure, mining and agriculture, and expand cooperation in new areas such as production capacity and new energies, so as to help Bolivia accelerate industrialization process. Third, both sides should give play to the advantage of mutual learning in civilization, fully absorb good notions from each other's long history and culture, and enhance people-to-people and cultural exchanges, so as to provide wisdom, confidence and impetus for each other's current economic and social development.

David Choquehuanca expressed that the strategic relationship with China has brought great driving force for Bolivia's development. Bolivia is willing to work with China to speed up the implementation of relevant economic and trade cooperation projects, introduce more equipment and technologies from China, increase the added-value of Bolivian products, and boost the development of Bolivia's manufacturing industry.

Both sides also exchanged views on international and regional issues of common concern and agreed to maintain communication and coordination, jointly safeguard the interests of developing countries and push forward the overall China-Latin America cooperation and the Latin American integration.
