On October 7, 2016 local time, Foreign Minister Wang Yi, who was on an official visit to Colombia, held talks in Bogota with Foreign Minister María Ángela Holguín Cuéllar of Colombia.
Wang Yi said that China firmly supports the peace process in Colombia and appreciates the diplomatic efforts Colombia has made. China will continue to offer relevant support to Colombia within the framework of the UN Security Council in accordance with its needs during the peace process. China appreciates Colombia's adherence to the One-China policy and its support on issues concerning China's core interests and major concerns. China is willing to, together with Colombia, intensify coordination, consolidate political mutual trust, deepen practical cooperation, expand people-to-people and cultural exchanges, strengthen cooperation in law enforcement and push for sustained and in-depth development of China-Colombia relations from a strategic height.
Wang Yi pointed out that both sides should give play to the advantage of economic complementarity and reinforce cooperation in production capacity so as to accelerate the industrialization process of Colombia and enhance its self-development capacity. It is hoped that the Colombian side will provide corresponding policy support and convenience for Chinese enterprises to invest and establish business in Colombia.
María Ángela Holguín Cuéllar expressed that Colombia appreciates China's support in its peace process within the framework of the UN Security Council, and looks forward to receiving continued support from China. Colombia is willing to deepen cooperation with China in agriculture, infrastructure, special economic zones, judicature, law enforcement and other fields. It is hoped that China can step up its investment in Colombia.
The two sides agreed to maintain close communication and coordination, jointly advance China-Latin America overall cooperation and strengthen cooperation under the Pacific Alliance framework.
