Zhang Dejiang Meets with President Tabaré Vázquez of Uruguay

On October 19, 2016, Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress (NPC) Zhang Dejiang met with President Tabaré Vázquez of Uruguay at the Great Hall of the People.

Zhang Dejiang said that China and Uruguay have enjoyed steady development in bilateral relations and solid foundation of political mutual trust over the past 28 years since the establishment of diplomatic relationship. Yesterday, President Xi Jinping held fruitful talks with Your Excellency Mr. President, and jointly announced the establishment of China-Uruguay strategic partnership, marking a new historical stage of bilateral relations. The NPC is ready to work with the Uruguayan General Assembly to implement the important consensus reached by the two heads of state, strengthen exchanges, enhance mutual understanding, learn from each other's experience on governance and administration of state affairs and actively promote trade and investment facilitation, so as to build a good policy and legal environment for pragmatic cooperation between the two countries and make active contributions to promoting the development of bilateral strategic partnership.

Tabaré Vázquez said that the relations between Uruguay and China have achieved constant and new progress in recent years. Uruguay is ready to take the establishment of bilateral strategic partnership as an opportunity to further deepen bilateral cooperation and strengthen exchanges between the legislative bodies of the two countries.
