On January 22, 2018 local time, Foreign Minister Wang Yi met in Santiago with Foreign Minister Jorge Arreaza of Venezuela, who was attending the Second Ministerial Meeting of the Forum of China and Community of Latin American and Caribbean States.

Wang Yi expressed that Venezuela is an important country of Latin America and the Caribbean (LAC) and its realization of stable development conforms to the overall interests of LAC. China has always supported the Venezuelan side's justified efforts in safeguarding its national sovereignty, and supported it in well solving the domestic issues through dialogue and consultation within its constitutional framework. China stands ready to work with the Venezuelan side to deepen the comprehensive strategic partnership between the two countries.

Jorge Arreaza expressed that the Venezuelan side sincerely thanks China for providing support and assistance for Venezuela for a long time, and highly appreciates China's consistent adherence to the principle of non-interference in other countries' internal affairs. Venezuela will well solve the domestic issues in its own way. The Venezuelan side stands ready to make joint efforts with China to deepen cooperation in various fields between the two countries so as to realize mutual benefit and win-win results.
