On July 27, 2018, Vice Foreign Minister Wang Chao met with a delegation of Senators of the Dominican Republic at request, during which they exchanged views on the development of bilateral relations. Both sides unanimously held that the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and the Dominican Republic is in line with the trend of the times, conforms to the fundamental interests of both countries and opens up broad prospects for the development of bilateral relations. It will surely and vigorously benefit the two peoples.

It is the first delegation from the Congress of the Dominican Republic to visit China since the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and the Dominican Republic.
