Vice Foreign Minister Ma Zhaoxu Attends the BRICS Sherpa Meeting

On November 9, 2019, Vice Foreign Minister and Sherpa for BRICS Affairs Ma Zhaoxu attended the fifth BRICS Sherpa Meeting in Brasília, capital of Brazil.

Ma Zhaoxu said, BRICS cooperation has maintained a positive momentum with fruitful results this year. The BRICS Summit in Brasília will be held soon. The Chinese side expects the BRICS countries to further strengthen unity and cooperation, deepen strategic partnership, and continue to march forward in the right direction of the second "Golden Decade". The BRICS countries should jointly safeguard multilateralism and the multilateral trading system, oppose unilateralism and protectionism, safeguard the international system with the United Nations as the core, and promote the building of a more just and rational international political and economic order based on international law. The BRICS countries should deepen practical cooperation, accelerate the building of the BRICS Partnership on the New Industrial Revolution, and inject strong momentum into the three-pillar-driven cooperation structure of the BRICS.

On November 9, the fifth BRICS Sherpa Meeting kicked off in Brasília. The four-day meeting makes final political preparations for the BRICS Summit.
