On November 13, 2019 local time, the closing ceremony of the BRICS Business Forum was held in Brasilia. President Xi Jinping attended the ceremony and delivered a speech. Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro, Russian President Vladimir Putin, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and South African President Cyril Ramaphosa attended the closing ceremony.

Xi Jinping pointed out, many new changes have taken place in the world for a period of time, and these changes brought numerous opportunities as well as challenges. The power unleashed by a new round of scientific and technological revolution and industrial transformation has opened up new ground for productivity growth and economic and social development. At the same time, mounting protectionism and bullyism are eroding global trade and investment, and weighing down the world economy. When businesses have confidence, the market will enjoy vitality. I hope the friends from business sector could seize the opportunities, address the challenges, continue to full-play respective advantages, take an active part in promoting economic cooperation among the BRICS countries, and actively invest and do businesses in the BRICS countries to make tangible contributions to growth and job creation.

Xi Jinping noted, the BRICS Partnership on New Industrial Revolution is vital to BRICS economic cooperation at the next stage. The business sector should blaze a trail for the integration of business cooperation with the BRICS Partnership on New Industrial Revolution, and produce more spotlight results in such areas as innovation, digital economy and green economy so as to promote high-quality development of BRICS economies.

Xi Jinping pointed out, as economic globalization faces headwinds at present, the business community should help the government better understand the industry and the market's demands, and improve its decision-making capacity by identifying difficulties and pain points that hinder trade and investment among countries and providing suggestions for feasible solutions.

Xi Jinping stressed, China's development is an opportunity for the world. Looking into the future, China's commitment to opening up more widely and the long-term positive trend of its economy have not changed. China will further open its market, expand import and constantly improve business environment to create better conditions for companies' development. The joint building of the Belt and Road Initiative has entered a new high-quality period, and it is hoped that the entrepreneurs could seize the opportunity and take an active participation to reap more fruits of cooperation.

About 600 representatives from the BRICS business community were present at the closing ceremony.

On the evening of the same day, Xi Jinping and his wife Peng Liyuan attended the welcome banquet hosted by President Jair Bossonaro and his wife for the BRICS leaders, and watched the performances together.
