On 24 March, China and Latin American and Caribbean (LAC) countries held a video conference on COVID-19 response. It was attended by close to 200 government officials and health experts from all of the 24 LAC countries that have diplomatic ties with China, namely Antigua and Barbuda, Argentina, the Bahamas, Barbados, Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Cuba, Dominica, the Dominican Republic, Ecuador, El Salvador, Grenada, Guyana, Jamaica, Mexico, Panama, Peru, Suriname, Trinidad and Tobago, Uruguay and Venezuela, and from Nicaragua which has not yet established diplomatic relations with China. Also online at the conference were representatives from the Pan American Health Organization and the Inter-American Development Bank, and country representatives from WHO and UNICEF in that region.
