On July 13, 2021, Director-General of the Department of Latin American and Caribbean Affairs of the Foreign Ministry Cai Wei held the fifth consultation on Latin American affairs with his Spanish counterparts via video link. Both sides exchanged views on topics such as the situation in the Latin American region, their respective policies toward and relations with Latin America, and enhanced cooperation with third-party markets in Latin America and the Caribbean. Representatives from the Chinese Embassy in Spain and the Spanish Embassy in China attended the meeting online.
