Assistant Foreign Minister Miao Deyu Meets with Diplomatic Envoys of Member States of CELAC Quartet

On April 22, 2025, Assistant Foreign Minister Miao Deyu met with Ambassador of Colombia to China Sergio Cabrera Cárdenas, Ambassador of Uruguay to China Fernando Lugris Rodriguez, Ambassador of Barbados to China Hallam Henry and Chargé d'affaires a.i. of the Embassy of Honduras in China Melvin Redondo, whose countries are member states of the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States (CELAC) Quartet. Miao Deyu said that this year marks the 10th anniversary of the official launch of the China-CELAC Forum, and the fourth Ministerial Meeting of the China-CELAC Forum will be held in China. China is ready to closely coordinate and cooperate with Latin America and the Caribbean (LAC) to ensure the complete success of the meeting, fully leverage the role of the forum as a platform for promoting China-LAC cooperation, and inject new impetus into China-LAC relations.

The diplomatic envoys said that the LAC side eagerly anticipates the fourth Ministerial Meeting of the China-CELAC Forum. Under the current circumstances, the meeting will provide an important opportunity for deepening cooperation and strengthening unity between LAC and China. The diplomatic envoys expressed their willingness to work with the Chinese side to make efforts for the successful holding of the meeting.
