On July 30, 2025, Special Representative of the Chinese Government on Latin American Affairs Qiu Xiaoqi met with a delegation of mayors from Honduras led by Nelson Castellanos, President of the Association of Municipalities of Honduras, consisting of mayors from various political parties.

Qiu Xiaoqi stated that since the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Honduras over two years ago, bilateral relations have started at a high level, with fruitful practical cooperation in various fields, bringing tangible benefits to the people of both countries. This fully proves that the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Honduras meets the aspirations of the people and the trend of the times. China highly appreciates Honduras' commitment to the one-China principle and is willing to work with Honduras to consolidate political mutual trust, expand cooperation areas, and promote the sustained and in-depth development of bilateral relations.
