On September 15, 2025, Vice Foreign Minister Miao Deyu, upon invitation, attended the reception hosted by the Chilean Embassy in China to celebrate the 215th anniversary of Chile's independence.
Miao Deyu stated that in recent years, under the strategic guidance of President Xi Jinping and President Gabriel Boric, the tree of China-Chile friendship has flourished and borne abundant fruit. Both China and Chile are countries of the Global South and are firmly committed to multilateralism and safeguarding free trade. Unilateralism and protectionism cannot bring a country long-term prosperity; hegemony, bullying, coercion and pressure will inevitably face resolute opposition from the vast majority of the international community. China is ready to work with Chile to deepen mutually beneficial cooperation, strengthen multilateral coordination, jointly uphold multilateralism, write a new chapter in the China-Chile comprehensive strategic partnership, and inject new impetus into advancing the reform of the global governance system and promoting the building of a community with a shared future for mankind.
Chilean Ambassador to China Pablo Arriarán stated that this year marks the 55th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Chile and China and the 20th anniversary of the signing of the free trade agreement between the two countries. Looking back, Chile and China have built mutual trust and shared interests, creating great benefits for the people of both countries. Looking ahead, Chile-China relations demonstrate enormous development potential and promising prospects. Chile is willing to work with China to deepen exchanges and cooperation in areas such as clean energy, the digital economy, technological innovation, food safety, culture and education, and further enhance bilateral relations and the friendship between the two peoples.
