On the morning of June 27, 2025, President Xi Jinping met with President of Ecuador Daniel Noboa, who is in China for the Annual Meeting of the New Champions, at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing.
Xi Jinping pointed out that this year marks the 45th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Ecuador, and bilateral relations have maintained a sound momentum of development. Ecuador has joined the big family of Belt and Road cooperation, and the two sides have signed a free trade agreement, and carried out productive cooperation in energy, mining, electricity, infrastructure construction, and other fields. China views and develops its relations with Ecuador from a strategic and long-term perspective and is ready to work with Ecuador to continuously deepen and substantiate the China-Ecuador comprehensive strategic partnership for the greater benefit of the two peoples.
Xi Jinping stressed that China and Ecuador should be good friends with mutual respect and trust, and good partners for common development. The two sides should continue to firmly support each other's core interests and major concerns, enhance exchanges across various sectors and at all levels, and enhance experience sharing on state governance. The two sides should implement key cooperation projects to deliver tangible outcomes and further elevate bilateral trade to new heights. The two sides should strengthen exchanges in such fields as education, culture, media, and youth and deepen mutual learning. The two sides should follow through on the outcomes of the Fourth Ministerial Meeting of the China-CELAC Forum, promote the friendship between China and Latin American and Caribbean (LAC) states, jointly pursue development and revitalization, and build a China-LAC community with a shared future, so as to inject more positive energy into world peace and development.
Daniel Noboa said that China's remarkable achievements in development are admirable. Ecuador and China have long upheld mutual respect, equality, and mutual benefit, and have successfully carried out extensive cooperation. China has provided strong support and assistance for Ecuador's economic and social development, which the Ecuadorian side will never forget. Ecuador looks forward to continuously deepening its relations with China, strengthening economic and trade exchanges, and enhancing cooperation in such fields as science and technology, culture, education, youth and other areas to deliver greater benefits to the two peoples.
After the meeting, the two heads of state jointly witnessed the signing of the Cooperation Plan between the Government of the People's Republic of China and the Government of the Republic of Ecuador on Jointly Promoting Belt and Road Cooperation.
