On July 9, 2025, President Xi Jinping exchanged congratulatory messages with Bolivian President Luis Arce to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries.
Xi Jinping pointed out that China and Bolivia are good friends and good brothers. Over the past 40 years since the establishment of diplomatic relations, China-Bolivia relations have withstood the test of changing international circumstances and have always maintained a sound momentum of growth. Both sides have firmly supported each other on issues related to their core interests and major concerns. The high-quality Belt and Road cooperation has yielded fruitful results, and the friendship is more deeply rooted in the hearts of the two peoples. Xi Jinping recalled that he held a fruitful meeting with President Luis Arce last November during the G20 Leaders' Summit in Rio de Janeiro, which charted the course for the future development of China-Bolivia relations. Xi Jinping said that he attaches great importance to the development of China-Bolivia relations and is ready to work with President Luis Arce to continuously carry forward the traditional friendship, lead the China-Bolivia strategic partnership to a new height, and better benefit the peoples of both countries.
President Luis Arce stated that over the past 40 years, Bolivia and China have established a solid bilateral relationship based on mutual respect and friendly cooperation. Bolivia highly commends China's support and assistance in infrastructure, technology, energy, health, and other fields, and also appreciates China's leadership role in uniting the Global South, promoting Latin America-China cooperation, and building a more just, equitable and inclusive international order. Bolivia is willing to continue deepening the brotherly friendship between the two peoples.
