Assistant Foreign Minister Cai Wei Meets with Undersecretary of Foreign Affairs of Chile Gloria de la Fuente González

On October 14, 2025, Assistant Foreign Minister Cai Wei, upon request, met with Undersecretary of Foreign Affairs of Chile Gloria de la Fuente González, who is in China for the Global Leaders' Meeting on Women.

Cai Wei welcomed Gloria de la Fuente González's visit to China for the meeting and said that in recent years, under the strategic guidance of the leaders of both countries, China-Chile relations have enjoyed comprehensive and rapid development. This year marks the 55th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Chile and the 20th anniversary of the signing of the Free Trade Agreement between the two countries. China is ready to work with Chile to implement the important common understandings reached by the two heads of state, continuously elevate the China-Chile comprehensive strategic partnership to new heights, jointly practice true multilateralism, and promote the building of a more just and equitable global governance system.

Gloria de la Fuente González said that President Xi Jinping's keynote address at the opening ceremony of the Global Leaders' Meeting on Women has injected strong impetus into advancing global gender equality, promoting women's all-round development, and upholding multilateralism. She said that the Global Governance Initiative proposed by President Xi Jinping is rich in substance and of great significance. Chile is willing to further deepen cooperation with China in various fields and continue to contribute to the development of relations between Latin America and the Caribbean and China.
