On February 13, 2026 local time, Member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and Foreign Minister Wang Yi met with Argentine Foreign Minister Pablo Quirno on the sidelines of the Munich Security Conference.

Wang Yi noted that over the past 54 years since the establishment of diplomatic relations, China and Argentina have always upheld mutual respect and treated each other as equals. The bilateral relationship has stood the test of changing international circumstances and remains resilient and full of vitality. In 2024, President Xi Jinping and President Javier Milei held a meeting and reached important common understandings on consolidating and developing the China-Argentina comprehensive strategic partnership. China is ready to work with Argentina to implement the common understandings reached by the two heads of state to better benefit the two peoples.

Wang Yi stated that the two sides should remain committed to the right direction of bilateral relations, facilitate friendly exchanges at all levels and across various fields, and provide firm mutual support on issues concerning each other's core interests. China and Argentina have highly complementary economies and a solid foundation for practical cooperation. The two sides should deepen cooperation in fields such as economy and trade, science and technology, finance, and minerals. China welcomes Argentina to fully leverage platforms such as the China International Import Expo and the Canton Fair to bring more quality products to the Chinese market. Wang Yi expressed the hope that the Argentine side will provide a fair, transparent, and non-discriminatory business environment for Chinese enterprises. China welcomes Argentine citizens to take advantage of the visa-free policy for spontaneous trips to China. China's development and growth represent a boost to the forces for peace and stability in the world. China never engages in geopolitical rivalry and never asks other countries to take sides. China-Argentina cooperation is not targeted at any third party, nor should it be disrupted by third-party factors.

Pablo Quirno stated that the friendship between Argentina and China has a time-honored history. The successful meeting between the two heads of state in 2024 has injected new impetus into bilateral relations. Argentina and China are each other's important trading partners, and also comprehensive strategic partners. Argentina has benefited greatly from cooperation with China. He expressed gratitude for China's valuable support for Argentina on the issue of sovereignty over the Malvinas Islands and for its assistance on multiple occasions during Argentina's economic difficulties. Argentina firmly abides by the one-China principle, and looks forward to maintaining close exchanges with China and deepening cooperation in trade, energy, minerals, finance and other fields. The Argentine side welcomes Chinese enterprises to invest and do business in Argentina.
