On May 26, 2026 local time, Member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and Foreign Minister Wang Yi met with Colombian Foreign Minister Rosa Yolanda Villavicencio in New York while chairing the UN Security Council High-Level Meeting.

Wang Yi appreciated Rosa Yolanda Villavicencio for making a special trip to attend the high-level meeting, and said that China will support Colombia in assuming the rotating presidency of the Security Council in June. Under the strategic guidance of the two heads of state, China-Colombia relations have achieved breakthrough progress. In particular, since Colombia joined the Belt and Road cooperation family a year ago, practical cooperation has yielded fruitful results and brought tangible benefits to the two peoples. China has all along viewed and advanced its relations with Colombia from a strategic height.
