On March 28, 2024, Vice Foreign Minister Chen Xiaodong attended the session themed "The Global Security Initiative: Addressing Security Challenges and Promoting World Peace" of the Boao Forum for Asia Annual Conference 2024, and delivered a keynote speech titled "Implementing the Global Security Initiative to Build a World of Lasting Peace and Universal Security".

Chen Xiaodong said, keeping in mind the future, security and well-being of humanity, President Xi Jinping displayed great strategic insight and global vision as the leader of a major country, and put forward the Global Security Initiative (GSI). The GSI featuring upholding principles and pursuing justice, taking a proactive approach to address difficult issues, and promoting synergy and cooperation, has won support and applause from over 100 countries as well as international and regional organizations, and injects momentum into the joint efforts of all parties to maintain world peace and tranquility. The GSI, pursuing common security as its goal, following the call of the times as its guidance, upholding openness and inclusiveness as its principle, and taking practical actions as its priority, has the key elements that make it successful and its relevance and value for the times and its strong vitality. China calls on the international community to enhance the connectivity of ideas to deepen international consensus on safeguarding common security, promote talks for peace to advance the peaceful settlement of hotspot issues, strengthen result-oriented actions to bring about more practical cooperation for international security, explore new approaches to improve the global security governance system, and stay focused on key areas to make Asia a paradigm of GSI cooperation. China stands ready to work with all parties to ensure the sound implementation of the GSI as part of the efforts to build a beautiful world of lasting peace and universal security.

Leaders from relevant Chinese departments and Hainan Province, as well as Chinese and foreign guests, including political dignitaries from relevant countries and heads of international and regional organizations, attended the session and delivered remarks.
