Vice Foreign Minister Liu Zhenmin Attends Children's Event: My Antarctica

On May 25, 2017, an exchange event on children's painting themed My Antarctica was held on the sideline of the 40th Antarctic Treaty Consultative Meeting (ATCM). Vice Foreign Minister and Chairman of the 40th ATCM Liu Zhenmin, together with Executive Secretary of the Antarctic Treaty Secretariat, Chairman of the Committee for Environmental Protection, and Chairman of the Working Group of the ATCM attended this event. They watched children's excellent paintings themed My Antarctica and enjoyed live performances of the pupils from Shijia Hutong Primary School, Chongwen Primary School and Beijing Chaoyang Experimental Primary School. Leaders of these three primary schools and heads of the Department of Treaty and Law and the Administrative Department of the Foreign Ministry were present.

Vice Foreign Minister Liu Zhenmin encouraged pupils to love science, love Antarctica, and maintain aspiration for the Antarctica and determination to protect the Antarctica. He hoped that they can make contributions in their own ways to the Antarctic cause of China and even the world when they grow up. Foreign representatives present at the meeting also expressed their appreciations for Chinese children's understanding and enthusiasm for the Antarctica. Vice Foreign Minister Liu Zhenmin and foreign representatives presented small souvenirs to the children and posed for group photos.

The exchange event on children's painting themed My Antarctica was co-hosted by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Shijia Hutong Primary School, Chongwen Primary School and Beijing Chaoyang Experimental Primary School. More than 60 pupils' paintings with the theme of the Antarctica were invited to be displayed during the meeting.
