On September 21-22, 2022, Special Representative of the Chinese Government on European Affairs Wu Hongbo visited Ireland, during which he met with Speaker of the Lower House of the Irish Parliament Seán Ó Fearghaíl, and Deputy Political Director, and Director Olivia Leslie of the Asia Pacific Unit of the Department of Foreign Affairs respectively.

The two sides had an in-depth exchange of views on China-Ireland relations, China-EU relations, bilateral high-level exchanges, practical cooperation, and international and regional issues of mutual interest. Both sides agreed to promote mutually beneficial cooperation in various fields, strengthen  interactions between legislatures and personnel exchanges, and jointly promote China-Ireland relations to a new level.
