Special Representative of the Chinese Government on European Affairs Wu Hongbo Visits Iceland

On October 21, 2024, Special Representative of the Chinese Government on European Affairs Wu Hongbo visited Iceland, during which he met with Permanent Secretary of the Prime Minister's Office of Iceland Benedikt Árnason and Foreign Policy Adviser to the Prime Minister of Iceland Andri Lúthersson and held talks with Acting Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Iceland Bergdís Ellertsdóttir.

Wu Hongbo said that the current development of China-Iceland relations shows a sound momentum, with fruitful cooperation results in such areas as economy, trade, geothermal energy and tourism. China is ready to enhance high-level exchanges with Iceland, upgrade economic and trade cooperation, strengthen cooperation in green transition, expand people-to-people and cultural exchanges, and promote better development of China-Iceland relations.

The Icelandic side said it attaches importance to developing relations with China and is willing to strengthen exchanges with China at all levels and expand cooperation in economy, trade, green development, culture and other fields.

The two sides also had an exchange of views on international and regional hotspot issues of mutual interest and concern.
