The Department of European Affairs of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Organizes Diplomatic Envoys in China to Appreciate Intangible Cultural Heritage and Rejoice in the Chinese New Year

On February 7, 2025, the Department of European Affairs of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Langfang Municipal People's Government invited the diplomatic corps of European countries to China to have an immersive experience of traditional Chinese New Year culture, celebrating the inclusion of the Chinese Spring Festival on the UNESCO's Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity. Director-General of the Department of European Affairs of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Li Jian, along with 25 diplomatic envoys, diplomats and their families from 11 European countries, including Bulgaria, Croatia, Denmark, France, Greece, Iceland, Luxembourg, Montenegro, the Netherlands, Norway, and Romania, traveled to Langfang to enjoy an intangible cultural heritage exhibition and performance as well as unique folk activities, and attended the first Langfang International New Year Festival. Mayor of Langfang Liu Yuan met with the delegation of the diplomatic envoys.

The diplomatic envoys lingered in front of the intangible cultural heritage exhibition booths, staying for an extended period. They expressed that through this event, they experienced the profoundness of Chinese culture and the diversity of its folk arts and crafts. They expressed their willingness to work with China to deepen cultural exchanges and mutual learning among civilizations, enhance mutual understanding and friendship between peoples, and promote greater development of China-Europe relations in 2025.
