On July 14, 2025, Member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and Director of the Office of the Central Commission for Foreign Affairs Wang Yi held talks with UK Prime Minister's National Security Adviser Jonathan Powell in Beijing.
Wang Yi said that under the strategic guidance of the leaders of the two countries, China-UK relations have embarked on a path of improvement and development, fulfilling the aspirations of the people of both countries and following the trend of the times. China appreciates the UK's proposal to develop a consistent, lasting and mutually respectful relationship between the two countries, and is willing to engage and partner with the UK from a broader perspective, enhance strategic communication, expand strategic cooperation, inject new dimensions into bilateral relations, and jointly promote world peace, stability and prosperity.
Jonathan Powell expressed the UK's willingness to enhance dialogue and communication with China to build a stable, practical and long-term partnership.
The two sides also had an exchange of views on hotspot issues of common interest and concern.
