On the afternoon of October 16, 2025, Vice President Han Zheng met with Diplomatic Adviser to the French President Emmanuel Bonne in Beijing.
Han Zheng stated that the current world is undergoing accelerated changes unseen in a century, and the international system centered on the United Nations formed after World War II is facing severe challenges. During their phone call in May, President Xi Jinping and President Emmanuel Macron agreed that the more complex the situation, the more China and France need to strengthen cooperation. China is ready to work with France to jointly implement the important common understandings reached by the two heads of state, uphold the tradition of independence and autonomy, enhance exchanges and mutual trust, advance practical cooperation with an open mindset, strengthen multilateral coordination, and ensure that the comprehensive strategic partnership between China and France maintains a positive momentum. China hopes that France will play a constructive role in promoting the sound development of relations between China and the European Union (EU).
Emmanuel Bonne stated that France highly values China's status and role. Both France and China support multilateralism. France is willing to maintain close high-level exchanges with China, deepen bilateral cooperation and multilateral coordination, and jointly address global challenges. France is also willing to actively promote EU-China dialogue and cooperation.
