On February 14, 2026 local time, Member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and Foreign Minister Wang Yi met with Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic Petr Macinka at the latter's request on the sidelines of the Munich Security Conference.
Wang Yi stated that China and the Czech Republic enjoy a tradition of friendship, and the Czech Republic was among the first countries to establish diplomatic relations with the People's Republic of China. However, bilateral relations have experienced twists and turns in recent years, which do not serve the interests of both sides. This year marks the 10th anniversary of the establishment of the China-Czech strategic partnership. The Chinese side appreciates the new Czech government's proactive commitment to improving relations with China and is willing to work with the Czech side in the same direction to promote the early return of bilateral relations to the track of sound development. China hopes that the Czech side will establish a correct perception of China, earnestly abide by the one-China principle, and respect China's core interests. Both sides should encourage exchanges at all levels and in various fields to enhance mutual understanding and trust, and on this basis, carry out practical cooperation to make up for the lost time.
Petr Macinka said that China is a strong country in the world. The Czech Republic treasures the traditional friendship with China, and looks forward to taking the 10th anniversary of the establishment of the strategic partnership between the two countries as an opportunity to open a new chapter in bilateral relations. The Czech Republic is firmly committed to the one-China policy, recognizes the People's Republic of China as the sole legal government representing the whole of China, and respects and supports China in safeguarding its sovereignty and territorial integrity. The Czech side expects to improve relations with China, resume high-level exchanges, and advance cooperation in various fields such as economy and trade, tourism, and people-to-people and cultural exchanges.
