From June 10 to 11, 2026, Special Envoy Zhai Jun of the Chinese Government on the Middle East Issue attended the 23rd Oslo Forum in Norway upon invitation.
Zhai Jun delivered a keynote speech at the opening ceremony of the forum, stating that the current situation in the Middle East and the Gulf region has drawn intense concern from all parties and profoundly impacts the global order. President Xi Jinping has put forward a four-point proposition on upholding and promoting peace and stability in the Middle East, contributing China’s approach to the international community’s collective efforts to resolve the current turmoil in the region. China will continue to act in the spirit of President Xi Jinping’s four-point proposition and work with all parties to play a constructive role in de-escalating regional tensions, achieving a lasting ceasefire and promoting long-term peace and stability. As a good friend of Middle Eastern countries, China will work with the international community to build bridges of understanding and trust in the region, cement the foundations of peace and stability, help the region realize genuine security and lasting peace on the basis of common, comprehensive, cooperative and sustainable security, and inject greater stability and certainty into the world.
The participating parties held discussions on issues including the US-Israel-Iran conflict, the Palestinian-Israeli conflict, the situation in Lebanon and the passage through international straits. During the forum, Zhai Jun met respectively with State Secretary of the Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs Andreas Motzfeldt Kravik, Yemeni Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Mustapha Ahmed Mohamed Noman and others at their request, and exchanged views on the Middle East situation and hotspot issues.
