China's Special Envoy to the Middle East Wu Sike Meets with Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Saud al-Faisal

On Oct. 29, 2011, China's Special Envoy to the Middle East Wu Sike visited Saudi Arabia and met with Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Saud al-Faisal. They exchanged views on the current situation in West Asia and North Africa, particularly the situation in Syria.

Wu expounded China's views and propositions on the situation in Syria. He said that China respects the role and influence of Saudi Arabia and the League of Arab States in regional affairs and hopes that with the concerted efforts of concerned parties, all related parties in Syria could give up violence, launch the inclusive political process as early as possible and properly solve the problems through dialogues and consultations. Prince Saud al-Faisal appreciated the positive role of China in regional affairs and expressed the willingness to continue communications and coordination with China on this issue.

The two sides were satisfied with the development of bilateral relations in recent years and considered that in the current situation the two sides should further enhance communication and cooperation in a bid to promote the constant development of the strategic friendly relations between the two countries.
