On November 22, 2012, Chinese special envoy on the Middle East issue Wu Sike said in an interview with Al Jazeera, Qatar, that China closely follows the developments in the Gaza strip, welcomes the declaration of ceasefire by Israel and relevant faction of Palestine, and appreciates the efforts made by the international community-especially countries like Egypt-in securing the ceasefire. In addition, Wu introduced what China has done for the ceasefire on various occasions, and expressed hopes that parties concerned in both Israel and Palestine would honor their commitments to the ceasefire and avoid future conflicts. Wu said that China would work with the international community to overcome obstacles and bring about an early resumption of peace talks between Israel and Palestine

Wu also took questions from the Al Jazeera reporter on regional hotspot issues.
