China's Special Envoy on the Middle East Issue Wu Sike Meets with Arab League Secretary General Nabil El Araby

On December 5, 2013, China's Special Envoy on the Middle East issue Wu Sike met with Arab League Secretary General Nabil El Araby at the Arab League headquarters in Cairo. The two sides had in-depth exchanges of views on China-Arab relations, regional situation and hotspot issues and so on. Chinese Ambassador to Egypt Song Aiguo attended the meeting.

Wu Sike indicated that the Chinese government attaches great importance to developing relations with Arab countries and Arab League. At the recently convened third Plenary Session of the 18th Central Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC), President Xi Jinping put forward the goal of comprehensively deepening reform and opening-up, which is believed to bring new vitality to the further promotion of friendly cooperation between China and Arab countries. China would like to work with the Arab countries to push forward the greater development in the China-Arab strategic cooperative relationship.

Nabil El Araby expressed his appreciation and gratitude to China for its long-standing firm support on the just cause of the Arabian people. He said the Arab League would like to work with China to keep expanding and deepening the friendly cooperation between the two sides in politics, economy and trade and all the other fields, push forward new development in China-Arab relations and strengthen the communication and coordination in international and regional affairs between the two sides.

The two sides also discussed the Palestinian issue and Syrian situation and expressed their willingness to make joint efforts to promote the early and proper solutions for the above issues through political dialogues.

On the same day, Wu Sike also held discussions with some Egyptian experts and scholars.
