In the afternoon of August 26, 2014, Premier Li Keqiang met with President Robert Mugabe of Zimbabwe at the Great Hall of the People.

Li Keqiang said that China and Zimbabwe have always respected each other and treated each other as equals. President Xi Jinping reached a broad consensus with you the previous day on deepening the bilateral relations. China stands ready to consolidate political mutual trust with Zimbabwe, transfer applicable technologies to Zimbabwe, and assist Zimbabwe in increasing food supply, carrying forward poverty alleviation, well implementing infrastructure construction projects, well conducting cooperation in human resource development and other areas, and improving its productivity level and self-development capacity.

Li Keqiang stressed that China actively supports Chairwoman of the African Union Commission Nkosazana Clarice Dlamini-Zuma's proposal to build high-speed rails between African capitals and major commercial centers, and is willing to assist Africa to propel the industrialization progress.

Li Keqiang pointed out that over the past 30-odd years, China has achieved significant development through reform and opening-up. Faced with the complex situation and severe downward pressure this year, Chinese economic operation has continued to maintain in a reasonable range. Instead of adopting strong stimulation measures, we have continued to rely on reforms to motivate social vitality and business start-ups. Policies such as streamlining administration and delegating power to lower levels have brought about the establishment of a large number of new enterprises, and promoted the development of the service industry, especially that of the emerging sectors. New changes have appeared in restructuring and have played an important supportive role in expanding employment, increasing residents' income and promoting sustainable economic development. With continuous deepening of the reform, the advantages of Chinese economy's great tenacity, potential and development space will become more manifest. We have confidence in pushing economy to maintain medium-to-high-speed growth and to develop toward a medium-to-high level.

President Mugabe said that his visit to China has yielded fruitful results. Zimbabwe admires China's great development achievements and is grateful for China's long-time selfless assistance and precious support. Zimbabwe is willing to learn development experience from China, continue the mutual trust and mutual support with China, deepen the traditional friendship, expand mutually beneficial cooperation, enhance communication and coordination on international and regional affairs, and promote the bilateral relations and Africa-China relations for greater development. Zimbabwe welcomes more Chinese enterprises to invest and more Chinese tourists to travel in Zimbabwe, and will provide convenience for such activities.
