Xi Jinping Arrives in Brisbane for His Attendance of the 9th G20 Leaders' Summit and State Visit to Australia

On November 14, 2014, President Xi Jinping arrived in Brisbane for his attendance of the 9th Leaders' Summit of the Group of Twenty (G20) at the invitation of Prime Minister Tony Abbott of the Commonwealth of Australia and his state visit to Australia at the invitations of Governor-General Peter Cosgrove of Australia and Prime Minister Tony Abbott of Australia.

At around 9:50 in the evening local time, Xi Jinping's special plane arrived at Brisbane International Airport. When Xi Jinping and his wife Mme. Peng Liyuan got off the special plane, Governor-General Peter Cosgrove greeted them beside the ramp. Attorney-General George Brandis of Australia and Premier Campbell Newman of Queensland and other senior officials also greeted Xi Jinping at the airport.

Xi Jinping extended sincere greetings and best wishes to the Australian people. Xi Jinping pointed out that coming from the late autumn in Beijing to early summer in Brisbane, as soon as I get off the plane, not only do I feel the high summer in Australia but also the enthusiasm and friendliness of Australian people as well as the profound friendship between the two peoples. I look forward to working with Australian leaders and friends from all sectors during my visit to elevate China-Australia relations to a new height and promote bilateral cooperation in various fields to a new level.

Xi Jinping stressed that I expect to make joint efforts with leaders of other member states attending the 9th G20 Leaders' Summit to advance global economic governance, join hands to address various challenges and promote common development and prosperity.

Wang Huning, Wang Yang, Li Zhanshu, Yang Jiechi and other delegation members arrived by the same plane.

H.E. Ma Zhaoxu, Chinese Ambassador to Australia also greeted them at the airport.

Australia is the first stop of Xi Jinping's visit this time. Xi Jinping will then pay state visits to New Zealand and Fiji, and meet with leaders of Pacific islands countries which have established diplomatic relationship with China in Fiji.
