From March 19 to 21, 2022, Special Envoy of the Chinese Government on the Middle East Issue Zhai Jun visited Egypt, and separately met with Director of Egypt's General Intelligence Service Abbas Kamel and Assistant Foreign Minister for Arab Affairs Alaa Moussa. The two sides exchanged views on bilateral relations, the situation in the Middle East, the Palestinian question and other international and regional hotspot issues. Chinese Ambassador to Egypt Liao Liqiang attended the above activities.
