On December 20, 2016, Vice Foreign Minister Zhang Ming attended and addressed the Commemorative Meeting in Observance of the International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People held in Beijing Language and Culture University（BLCU）.

Zhang Ming said that not long ago, President Xi Jinping sent a congratulatory message to the UN Commemoration of International Day of Solidarity with Palestinian People for the fourth consecutive years, which shows the great importance and concern attached by China’s top leader has attached to the Palestinian issue.

Zhang Ming pointed out that the Palestinian issue is the core issue of the Middle East issue and a root cause issue of the Middle East peace. If this issue cannot be properly resolved, it is difficult for the entire Middle East region to achieve real security and stability, and the world is also hard to realize peace at large. The historical experience of the Middle East peace process shows that there is no winner in the conflicts. To disputes through the force will only aggravate the hostility, and the revenges will only lead to hatred. Only to beat swords into ploughshares can we together share the peace. China hopes that Palestine and Israel will not change their faith in peace, but open their sincere hearts to each other as well as show their determinations to shoulder the responsibilities, so as to push for the early and proper settlement of the Palestinian issue.

Zhang Ming noted that China has always supported supports the Palestinian people's just cause of restoring their legitimate national rights and backed backs the establishment of an independent state of Palestine enjoying full sovereignty on the basis of the 1967 borders lines established in 1967 and with East Jerusalem as its capital. At the beginning of this year, President Xi Jinping fully elaborated China’s principles and stance on the Palestinian issue during in his speech at the headquarters of the League of Arab States. The initiatives of the “three stops” and the “three explorations” proposed by Foreign Minister Wang Yi at the Middle East Peace Initiative Ministerial Conference this June has have sent out the ChineseChina’s voice and also contributed the Chinese wisdom to the proper settlement of properly resolve the Palestinian issue.

The event was co-hosted by the Chinese People's Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries and the BLCU. Nearly 200 people, including Assistant Foreign Minister Makin of Palestine, Acting UN Resident Coordinator in China Bernhard Schwartländer, some diplomatic envoys from some the Arab states, representatives of the overseas Chinese communities community and overseas students, and students and teachers from the BLCU as well as Chinese and foreign media, attended the event.
