On March 14, 2017, Vice Foreign Minister Zhang Ming met with Undersecretary for Political and Economic Affairs of the Foreign Ministry Adel bin Siraj Mirdad of Saudi Arabia in Beijing.
Zhang Ming noted that King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud is about to pay a state visit to China, which is an important visit in bilateral relations after President Xi Jinping's visit to Saudi Arabia in January 2016. China is willing to make joint efforts with Saudi Arabia to integrate development strategies within the joint construction of the "Belt and Road" framework through this visit, and achieve fruitful outcomes in politics, economy and other fields, so as to push China-Saudi Arabia comprehensive strategic partnership for greater development.
Adel bin Siraj Mirdad said that King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud attaches great importance to developing its relations with China. Saudi Arabia is willing to deepen bilateral strategic mutual trust, strengthen practical cooperation in various fields within the joint construction of the "Belt and Road" framework, and expand people-to-people and cultural exchanges.
Both sides also exchanged views on cooperation between the two Foreign Ministries and international and regional issues of common concern.
