Xi Jinping Meets with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu of Israel

On March 21, 2017, President Xi Jinping met at Diaoyutai State Guesthouse with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu of Israel, announcing to establish bilateral innovative comprehensive partnership.

Xi Jinping pointed out that since the establishment of China-Israel diplomatic relations 25 years ago, both countries have enjoyed a stable and healthy development of bilateral relations in general, maintained frequent bilateral high-level visits, steadily promoted practical cooperation and increasingly intensified people-to-people and cultural exchanges. Especially in recent years, China-Israel cooperation in innovation has vigorously pushed bilateral relations for constant and positive development. The establishment of China-Israel innovative comprehensive partnership will further advance bilateral cooperation in innovation, better achieve advantage complementarity, and bring more tangible benefits to the two peoples. The two countries should enhance political communication, intensify exchanges in various fields and at all levels, strengthen mutual understanding and trust, reinforce alignment of development strategies, steadily boost major cooperation projects within the joint construction of the "Belt and Road" framework, mainly beef up cooperation in such fields as science, technology, innovation, water resource, agriculture, medical and health care, and clean energy, expand the depth and breadth of bilateral practical cooperation, consolidate the public opinion foundation of bilateral relations, and cement exchanges and cooperation in education and culture.

Xi Jinping stressed that the connection between China and countries in the Middle East becomes closer and closer. A peaceful, stable and developing Middle East conforms to the common interests of all parties including China and Israel. The Israel-Palestine issue has long-term and profound impact on the situation in the Middle East. China appreciates that Israel will continue to, based on the "two-state solution", deal with Israel-Palestine issue. To realize the peaceful coexistence between Israel and Palestine as two neighboring countries is not only the well-being for the two countries as well as the whole Middle East, but also the common expectation of the international community.

Benjamin Netanyahu expressed that his visit to China this time has achieved fruitful outcomes. Israel-China friendship enjoys a long history. Israel fully admires China's history and development achievement as well as its role in the current international community. The country will continue to uphold the one-China policy, and is willing to take the establishment of Israel-China innovative comprehensive partnership as an opportunity to give full play to bilateral advantages in science, technology and innovation, deepen and intensify bilateral cooperation in clean energy, agriculture, investment, finance, medical service and other fields, so as to benefit the two peoples and advance world development and prosperity. The Israeli side is ready to actively participate in cooperation in infrastructure and other areas within the "Belt and Road" framework, and expects to see that China could play a greater role in Middle East affairs.
