On May 29, 2017, President Mahmoud Abbas of Palestine met at the Presidential Office in Ramallah with Special Envoy of the Chinese Government on the Middle East Issue Gong Xiaosheng. Both sides exchanged views on regional hotspot issues including Palestine-Israel situation. Director of Chinese Office in Palestine Chen Xingzhong attended the meeting.

During the visit, Gong Xiaosheng also met with Prime Minister Rami Hamdallah, Advisor to President on Foreign Affairs and International Relations Nabil Shaath, Foreign Minister Riyad Al-Maliki, Advisor to President on Diplomatic Affairs Majdi al-Khalidi and other officials of Palestine, and introduced related situation of his visits to Israel and Palestine to media including the Xinhua News Agency, China Central Television as well as China Radio International.
