On August 3, 2017, Foreign Minister Wang Yi held in Beijing the second meeting of the China-Turkey Foreign Ministers' Consultation Mechanism with Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu of Turkey.

Wang Yi expressed that President Xi Jinping held four meetings in two years with President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, making plans and pointing out direction for China-Turkey relations at the highest level and the strategic height. Both sides should make full use of inter-governmental cooperation committee, foreign minister’s consultation and other mechanisms, comprehensively and earnestly implement consensus of the two heads of state, so as to promote bilateral strategic cooperative relations to achieve greater development. The two sides need to continuously take care of each other’s core concerns, support each other at the crucial time, enhance security cooperation and consolidate political mutual trust. Both countries should deeply integrate China’s “Belt and Road” initiative with Turkey’s “Middle Corridor” plan and push forward cooperation in major strategic projects, in a bid to promote bilateral cooperation in economy, trade, tourism, education and other fields to bear more fruits. China welcomes Turkey to host the Turkey Tourism Year in China in 2018.

Mevlut Cavusoglu said that Turkey is satisfied with the sound development of the current relations between both countries. China is very important to Turkey, the region and the world. The Turkish side pays high attention to China, and will take the enhancement of cooperation with China as a priority, continue to firmly adhere to the one-China policy and attach importance to co-construction of the “Belt and Road” with China. It is hoped that both sides could constantly intensify high-level exchanges, fully tap potential and strengthen communication and cooperation in security, economy, trade, tourism, culture, education and other areas, and enhance communication and coordination in regional issues.
