On June 15, 2018, State Councilor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi held talks in Beijing with visiting Foreign Minister Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu of Turkey.

Wang Yi expressed that continuously consolidating China-Turkey strategic cooperative relations and deepening bilateral cooperation in various areas under the new situation conform to the fundamental and long-term interests of the two countries and the two peoples, and are the inevitable choices for both countries. Both sides should continue to accommodate each other's core concerns and consolidate the foundation of bilateral political mutual trust. China is willing to, under the framework of the joint construction of the Belt and Road, launch specific plans to align the development strategies of both sides, and support Chinese enterprises in conducting more practical cooperation with Turkey, so as to maintain sustained and stable development of bilateral economic and trade cooperation. It is hoped that the Turkish side will provide a sound business environment for Chinese enterprises. China is ready to, together with the Turkish side, jointly promote the work of establishing cultural centers in each other's country to advance mutual understanding.

Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu noted that Turkey views and pushes forward Turkey-China relations from a strategic height, and will abide by the stance on the one-China principle. Turkey stands ready to actively promote the positive development momentum of bilateral relations, deepen bilateral practical cooperation in such areas as energy, infrastructure, trade and investment, and attract more Chinese enterprises to invest in Turkey. The Turkish side will continue to deepen cooperation in counter-terrorism and security as well as intelligence with China.

Both sides also exchanged views on such issues of common concern as the Syrian issue and the Palestinian issue, and agreed to strengthen communication and coordination, so as to jointly promote the stability in the Middle East, and push for the political settlement of hotspot issues.
